Trevor Nelson hosts at the BBC Proms, tracing the musical path of the United States’ civil rights movement from spirituals through gospel to soul. Sixteen voices, including Beverley Knight and Jacob Lusk, join conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, the LJ Singers and the BBC Concert Orchestra to celebrate music that took risks, pleaded for freedom and soundtracked history.
